ANTARCTICA
In all we do, we seek inspiration and example. We look for and see in others, qualities and skills we admire and respect. We draw on and try to emulate the work ethic and humility shown by a few both near and far. Some we will never meet, some we'll encounter on a daily basis, and some we hope to cross paths with in the future. We stand on our own two feet, often by standing on the shoulders of others.

Roald Amundsen
1872-1928
Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen was perhaps the greatest polar explorer of all time. Amundsen was part of the Belgica Expedition, the first expedition to over-winter in Antarctica (1898), the first explorer to transit the Northwest Passage (1903–05), the first to reach the South Pole (1911), and the first to fly over the North Pole in an airship (1926).

William Speirs Bruce
1867-1921
William Speirs Bruce was a naturalist, polar scientist and oceanographer who organized and led the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904). The expedition established the first ever manned meteorological station in Antarctica, mapped and chartered thousands of miles of coastline and was the first ever to film penguins in Antarctica.

James Castrission and
Justin Jones
On 26 January 2012, Castrission and Jones (Cas & Jonesy) completed the first unsupported polar ski expedition from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back. After 89 days they made it back to the coast, having skied 2275 km. They arrived back alongside the great Norwegian explorer Aleksander Gamme. Gamme, who was ahead of them, waited for them so they could finish together.
